In the early 60s Duffy Landry was a commercial fisherman like many people in the small town of Pierre Part Louisiana. As they cleaned the catfish they caught they began selling it as bait to other commercial fishermen. As time went on the demand grew and grew so he purchased a freezer to store more bait as the demand kept growing. Around 1965 he and his wife Myrtle started Duffy’s and began to carry more bait options as well as other items for local fishermen.
